Best Fall Destinations

You might say it’s too early for fall, I say order a PSL and chill. Seriously. Grab a blanket, cozy up and chill. I love planning my travels to match the current season! Since fall is right around the corner, here are my top destinations for my favorite season of all.

Salem, Massachusetts

To most, this one might be obvious but it is seriously a must on the list. Salem is the “Halloween Capital” of the United States. Known for the infamous witch trials, the town is filled with all of the spooky history. Salem feels like halloween all year round. However, during fall, it transforms into a halloween wonderland. With a halloween parade each weekend and the all the filming locations for the movie “Hocus Pocus”, this is the perfect town to fill up your halloween bucket. And let’s not forget how beautiful nature gets during fall. Salem gives you everything.

Washington state

Call me biased, but Washington state during fall needs to be experience by everyone. The weather is at its prime although some might argue that Washington summers are better. The colors that you will see are out of this world. Deep reds, blood oranges, bright yellows, and soft browns, is all you will need to see to fall in love (no pun intended.) For “Practical Magic” fans, you can take a day trip to the town where the filmed the movie. Coupeville is only about a 1.5 hr drive from Seattle. It’s a small, charming town and you can visit the movie’s famous apothecary and all of the other filming locations. And although not a halloween movie, Twilight sure does put you in the fall mood. Check out the the complete Twilight itinerary if you decide to visit while in Washington.

Oregon

Oregon will give you a very similar experience to Washington state. However, in St Helens, you will be able to visit the famous Halloween Town from the Disney movie, you guessed it, “Halloween Town.” It will give you the perfect combination of halloween and fall. You can take a trip down the coast and enjoy the beautiful scenery of having the ocean on one side and beautiful, colorful trees on the other.

New York

New York is a great place to visit any time of year. However, if you haven’t already, visiting upstate New York rather than NYC during fall is a must. New York is known for it’s apple picking farms during fall season. While you can totally go to a pumpkin patch, I recommend visiting an apple farm and make your very own apple cider. And of course… the beautiful scenery that New York has to offer with all of its beautiful fall colors.

Germany

One word… Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest is an annual festival held in Munich, Germany. It usually goes for around 2 weeks late September and ending on the first Sunday of October. Although known for it’s beers, foods, parades, and more, it was originally the celebration of the marriage of King Louis I and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The first festival happened in1812 and now it is known all over the world. Different parts of the world also now have their own version of Oktoberfest, like for example, Leavenworth which is a German town in Washington state. If you’re looking for the perfect international trip with the perfect amount of wanderlust and history, Munich, Germany is your destination.
