Madrid for couples.

Madrid is the capital of Spain and it is located in the heart of the country, so it makes it the perfect place for a romantic getaway with your corazón. Experiencing the Spanish culture with your loved one is something that everyone should do. Spain has a lot to offer such as food, people, culture, art, and architecture. Madrid showcases beautiful architecture from both modern and previous eras. It has breathtaking streets that are a gorgeous sight to see during the day and an enchantment by night. This is what made me write about this breathtaking city for couples.

When I visited Madrid, all I could think about was how romantic this city looked, especially at night. With the city being home of the Royal Palace, any girl would feel like a princess there. The streets will be lit by beautiful buildings and street lights. The night life is what Madrid is known for and there is something for every couple.

I will be giving options for the adventure seeking couples, the party couples, and the tranquil couples. Here are some of my picks:

Things To Do:

Royal Palace

The Royal Palace is a must do for every couple. This palace is home to the Royal Family, and it was built in 1755 for King Felipe V. Although the Royal Family does not reside in this palace, there is still much of the art and artifacts that has belong to them. It is a beautiful attraction to see that showcases exquisite art and a lot of history. It could be out of a movie you and your partner walking hand to hand in a palace or maybe just extremely cheesy. However, we all like cheese. This is a low budget attraction as the entry is 2£-14£ ($2.5-$15.5 USD) ($)

El Retiro Park

This park has it all for couples and I absolutely adore it. This park is home of an artificial lake that creates a beautiful sight for anyone to see. In addition to observing its beauty, you can also rent a rowing boat and actual recreate the famous “The Notebook” scene and have your own cheesy moment. All jokes aside, this is a very fun activity and it will only range from 5.8£-7.5£ ($5-$10) making it a low budget attraction ($). This park also features beautiful monuments and gardens that make this an extremely romantic adventure for any couple. One of the most beautiful gardens featured is the Rosaleda Rose Garden. This garden more than 4000 roses of all different types and colors. This garden is in full bloom in the months of May and June. El Retiro Park has too much to offer for me to fit it all in this blog. With museums, monuments, and a theater, there’s nothing you can’t do with your significant other here. It’s a must do.

Gran Via

Gran Via is the most popular street in Madrid, Spain. This street is home of many restaurants, bars, retail stores, and theaters. If you and your partner are looking for a good time and amazing nightlife, this is where you belong.

Museo Nacional Del Prado

This one is for my couples who love to indulge in fantastic art. This museum is filled with exquisite European art dating back to the 12thcentury. The Prado museum is considered to be one of the best museums in the world and one of the most visited. Admission tickets range from 7-24£ ($8-27). However, they do offer free admission Monday- Saturday 6pm-8pm or Sundays and Holidays 5pm-7pm. This is a low to moderate attraction. ($-$$)

Temple Debod

Temple Debod is an Egyptian temple that was originally built in 2 BC and it was then rebuild in Madrid in 1972. This is a great attraction for that couple that seeks culture and history when they travel. The temple itself shows much history that Madrid has and the culture behind those who it belonged to. I would recommend coming with your partner during sunset and seeing this place turn into something out of this world. General admission is free.

See a Flamenco Show

Spain is home of the beautiful and sensual dance of flamenco. I highly suggest catching at least one show when you’re in Madrid with your partner. There is nothing like seeing these beautiful locals execute such a beautiful dance. Most of these flamenco theaters have bars and serve tapas, appetizer or snack that are usually served at the bar, which makes this night extra perfect. There are many of these theaters around, however one of my favorites is Flamenco Essential Flamenco Show and it is conveniently located in Madrid’s Centro. It is a very intimate setting in which gives you a great view from anywhere in the room.

Where To Eat:

Bodega de los Secretos

This restaurant has a cave like setting and its absolutely gorgeous. It is extremely romantic, and it creates a very intimate setting for any couple. It features Spanish delicacies that everyone can indulge in and all for a good price. Menu prices will range from 21£-40£ ($23-45) making this a moderate budget restaurant. ($$)

Lamucca de Pez

This Italian style restaurant will for sure make you come here twice. Italian food in general is very romantic but Lamucca de Pez really exceeds your expectations. It also features a bar in which you can indulge cocktails and wine in and also, of course, tapas. This restaurant is open till late and the menu prices will range from 11£-20£ making this a low to moderate budget restaurant.($-$$)

El Viajero

El Viajero, or The Traveler, is a bar and tapas restaurant that is located near Madrid’s Centro. They are open till 2:30 am so it makes it a great late-night restaurant as well. There is outside seating on the rooftop which makes it a very romantic setting for any couple. They serve Spanish delicacies as well as any standard meal for those who aren’t willing to jump out of their comfort zone. Prices are low to moderate and very reasonable. ($-$$) I highly suggest coming if you want a more chill and local experience in Madrid.

Where To Stay:

Axel Hotel Madrid

The Axel Hotel is an adult only hotel that serves complimentary breakfast on your first day and a welcome bottle. The rooms scream relaxation and romanticism that will make it hard for you guys to get out and adventure out in Madrid. Axel Hotel is located south of Madrid’s Centro so keep that in mind when booking. This hotel has reasonable prices and I would consider it a moderate budget hotel.($$)

Room Mate Oscar

Room Mate Oscar hotel has a modern feel that would make you and your partner feel very comfortable. The rooms are also modern but romantic and comfortable. The hotel offers a rooftop pool and bar that would entice any couple to stay in. The hotel is conveniently next to Madrid’s Centro making it easy to explore the city. The prices range from $150-$200 making this a moderate to high budget hotel. ($$-$$$)

BLESS Hotel Madrid

BLESS Hotel Madrid is a 5-star hotel that includes a rooftop bar, a spa, a bowling alley, and Basque dining. The rooms are very sophisticated and romantic which would make your trip absolutely grand. For any couple wanting to find the perfect romantic hotel, this would be it. This hotel is located east from Madrid’s Centro so keep that in mind while booking. The prices for BLESS Hotel Madrid range from $300-$350 making this a high budget hotel. ($$$)

Transportation:

Madrid Metro

Madrid Metro is the city’s rapid transit system and it is the 12th longest rapid transit system in the world. It is the most reliable way to get around the city and is what locals use the most. The tickets range from 1£-18£ ($2-$20) depending on which ticket type you decide on. With these prices, this a low budget way of transportation. ($)

Bikes

There are many bike rental companies in Madrid which makes it an easy way of transportation. This is a more romantic way to get around the city if you like a little bit of a workout. The cost to rent a bike depends on how much time you have it for as well as the company you rent them from. Prices can range from 2£-10£ ($3-$12) making this a low budget way of transportation. ($)

Madrid is the perfect destination for any couple wanting a romantic getaway with relaxing things to do but also experience the Spanish culture all around. I highly suggest putting this on the top of your bucket list if you are a couple wanting a little bit of everything in one trip. Have fun love birds!
